Financial independence is essential for women’s empowerment and the country’s progress, said former Gadag Midtown Winner Will Club president Preeti Shivappanamat.
She was speaking after inaugurating a free self-employment training camp organised by Darideepa Mahila Multipurpose Organisation in Gadag. Deepa Hanumantha Gowda attended as the guest of honour.
Preeti said women should not remain limited to household responsibilities and should get opportunities to earn independently. She said skill development and self-employment could help women become financially secure and contribute more strongly to their families and society. The programme received participation from women from Gadag city and nearby villages.
Programme president Shakuntala Khulagunda explained how women could make useful household products at home with small investments. She also spoke about financial management and marketing methods that could help small businesses grow. The training focused on practical ideas that women could use while managing their family responsibilities.
CEDOK Gadag trainer Manjunath conducted sessions on government skill-development programmes, subsidised loans, banking services and Mudra loan schemes. He explained how women could use these opportunities to start businesses. More than 40 women participated in the training and gained practical knowledge about self-employment and financial planning.
At the concluding programme, All India Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha women’s wing State Vice-President Vijayalakshmi Manvi and Silk Heritage representative Poojita Gajakosh encouraged the participants.
Darideepa beneficiaries Rajeshwari Dani and Geeta Bandivadder were honoured for achieving financial progress through the organisation’s self-help group. Lakshmi Kamitkara, Vijayalakshmi Asuti, Nagaraj Gowdy and other members attended. Organisers said such programmes could help more women become entrepreneurs and build independent livelihoods.
