Sajan Prakash storms into 200m butterfly final

Indian swimmer Sajan Prakash secured a place in the men’s 200m butterfly final after finishing second in his qualifying heat with a time of 1:58.59.
He made a strong start and led the race during the opening 100 metres before Scotland’s Duncan Scott moved ahead in the closing stages to finish first with a time of 1:58.29. Although Sajan’s performance was slower than his personal best of 1:57.09, it was enough to earn him a place in the final and keep India’s hopes of winning a medal alive. His determined swim showed confidence, consistency, and the ability to compete against top international rivals on the big stage.
India also had mixed results in athletics as Gurindervir Singh finished second in his men’s 100m heat with a time of 10.39 seconds. Running in lane five, India’s fastest sprinter stayed close to Jamaica’s Rohan Watson in the early part of the race before the Jamaican pulled away over the final 30 metres to win comfortably in 10.13 seconds. The race was completed with a legal tailwind of 1.9 metres per second. Gurindervir’s timing remained below his national record of 10.09 seconds, yet both Indian athletes now have another opportunity to deliver stronger performances and make the country proud in the upcoming events.
