Residents of Moograhalli village in Chikkamagaluru district have raised concerns over alleged safety lapses in the ongoing bridge construction work and have demanded a temporary halt to the project until necessary safety measures are implemented.
Villagers alleged that the construction activities are being carried out without adequate precautions, creating risks for workers as well as people living in the surrounding areas. They expressed concern that negligence in following safety standards could lead to accidents, especially during the monsoon season when weather conditions remain challenging.
According to residents, proper barricading, warning signs, and other safety arrangements should be ensured at the construction site to prevent public access to dangerous areas. They said that vehicles and pedestrians passing through the route face difficulties due to the ongoing work and lack of proper management.
The villagers urged the authorities and the concerned contractors to inspect the site and address the safety issues immediately. They demanded that construction work be temporarily suspended until all safety requirements are fulfilled and the site becomes secure for workers and the public.
Residents stated that the bridge is an important infrastructure project for the local community and they support its completion. However, they stressed that development work should not compromise public safety. They appealed to officials from the relevant departments to take immediate action and ensure that construction progresses according to approved safety guidelines.
The villagers also requested regular monitoring of the project by government officials to ensure quality and timely completion. They warned that continued negligence could result in serious consequences and called for accountability from those responsible for maintaining safety standards at the work site.
