Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes Mohsin Khan has all the qualities needed to represent India at the international level, provided the left-arm pacer can remain injury-free.
The Lucknow Super Giants fast bowler has emerged as one of the standout performers in IPL 2026 with his disciplined spells and ability to generate awkward bounce from hard lengths.
The 27-year-old from Uttar Pradesh has claimed nine wickets in his last four matches, including a brilliant five-wicket haul for 23 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday.
Pathan highlighted Mohsin’s knack for picking wickets during maiden overs and praised his ability to trouble aggressive batters with accuracy and bounce.
“Whenever he bowls a maiden over, he always ensures he gets a wicket. He did the same against Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earlier and now against Tim Seifert as well,” Pathan said.
He added that Mohsin’s performances this season underline his exceptional quality and potential for higher honours.
“If he manages to stay fit, no one can stop him from playing international cricket for India. His fitness is the only roadblock because he stays injured for long periods,” Pathan remarked.
Mohsin has bowled three maiden overs in the tournament so far, including a wicket-maiden against young batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Pathan said such spells demonstrate the control and discipline that make the left-arm seamer highly effective in T20 cricket.
However, the former India pacer also acknowledged Mohsin’s recurring injury concerns, stating that his bowling action places considerable strain on his body.
“A few seasons back, a hand injury kept him out for many matches. Lucknow Super Giants supported him a lot during that phase and helped him recover,” Pathan explained.
Standing at 6ft 3in, Mohsin’s height allows him to extract extra bounce even on good batting surfaces. Pathan noted that his ability to consistently bowl economical spells makes him particularly dangerous in the shortest format.
According to Pathan, Mohsin has conceded the fewest runs in the tournament while bowling good-length deliveries, proving how difficult he has become for batters to attack.
With form and confidence on his side, Mohsin’s performances are steadily strengthening calls for a future India opportunity.
