Australian powerhouse Tim David etched his name into the record books, becoming the second-fastest player to reach 1,000 runs in Indian Premier League history. Playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against the Delhi Capitals, David reached the milestone in just 560 balls, trailing only Andre Russell’s record of 545.
During the high-stakes match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, David contributed a brisk 26 runs off 17 balls. His performance featured three boundaries and a towering six, maintaining a strike rate of over 152 before he was dismissed by spinner Axar Patel. This milestone highlights David’s incredible efficiency, across his career with Mumbai Indians and RCB, he has maintained a blistering career strike rate of 177.83.
The match itself was a rollercoaster for the home fans. After Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl, RCB’s openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli provided a strong start with a 52-run partnership. Salt was the standout performer, smashing 63 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled to maintain the momentum. RCB eventually finished their 20 overs with a total of 175/8.
Delhi’s bowlers played a crucial role in restricting the score. Skipper Axar Patel led from the front with impressive figures of 2/18, supported by Kuldeep Yadav and Lungi Ngidi, who also took two wickets each. While the match remains competitive, the night belonged to Tim David, whose consistent power-hitting has solidified his reputation as one of the most dangerous finishers in world cricket.
