According to an official statement, the first operation was carried out by the Nowshera Police during routine vehicle checking at Thalka Naka on Friday.
A Scorpio vehicle was intercepted, leading to the arrest of one आरोपी, Wajid Khan, a resident of Kakora in Manjakote tehsil. During the search, police recovered approximately 11 grams of heroin, commonly referred to as chitta. The accused was immediately taken into custody, and the contraband was seized.
A case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Nowshera Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
In a separate operation conducted at Lamberi during naka checking, another Scorpio vehicle was intercepted by police. Four individuals — Naseem Akram, Waqar Ahmed, Danish Choudhary, and Rameez Raja — were found in possession of heroin. Authorities recovered a total of 13 grams of the substance from the accused. All four were arrested on the spot, and a case has been registered under multiple sections of the NDPS Act at the same police station.
Officials confirmed that investigations in both cases are ongoing, with efforts focused on identifying supply chains and potential links to larger drug networks. The District Police Rajouri reiterated its commitment to eliminating drug trafficking and warned that strict legal action would continue against those involved in such illegal activities.
Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have been consistently conducting operations against drug smugglers, peddlers, and hawala networks. Authorities believe that proceeds from narcotics trade are often used to fund terrorist activities in the Union Territory, making such crackdowns critical for maintaining law and order.
Police have also urged the public to cooperate and share information to help combat the growing drug problem and ensure a safer environment for communities across the region.
