Police in Udham Singh Nagar arrested two inter-state arms smugglers for allegedly supplying weapons to a terror associate based in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Friday.

The accused, Harendar Singh alias Honey and Nikhil Verma alias Ranu, both aged 27, were caught during a search operation in SIDKUL Phase II. Police intercepted a white Swift car without a number plate and recovered two rifles, two pistols, a revolver, and 344 cartridges.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati said the accused had supplied arms in 2021 to Rehan Mir alias Irfan Mir, an overground worker linked to the terror group Al Badr. During questioning, the duo revealed plans to hide the weapons in the forests of Chorgalia.

Police investigations also found suspicious financial transactions linked to bank accounts in Jammu and Kashmir, including those connected to Rehan. Officials said both Rehan and Harendar Singh are already wanted in a case registered by the Delhi Police Special Cell.

Authorities have informed the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Delhi Police about the arrests and are gathering further details on the network. The accused also named Indrajit Sandhu and Pawan Sandhu as key figures behind the operation, and efforts are underway to arrest them.

A case under the Arms Act has been registered, and police are continuing investigations into the suspected terror funding and illegal arms supply network.
