New Delhi
Abdulnasser Alshaali, the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to India, has appreciated New Delhi’s role in the ongoing West Asia crisis, stating that India’s voice holds strong credibility and influence in the region.
He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s early phone call to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was seen as a gesture of solidarity and reflected the close and trusted relationship the two leaders have built over the past decade.
Alshaali also highlighted India’s support for the UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which was backed by 135 countries. He said this move sent a strong and clear message against attacks on national sovereignty and the targeting of civilians and key infrastructure.
According to him, India’s deep connections across West Asia and its balanced and constructive diplomatic approach make it an important player during the ongoing crisis.
Referring to the rising tensions, the envoy alleged that Iran has carried out repeated attacks on the UAE and its neighbouring countries since February 28. He stated that hundreds of missiles and drones have been launched towards the UAE, with several strikes targeting civilian areas such as residential buildings, airports, and other public facilities, leading to damage and injuries.
Despite the situation, Alshaali said the UAE has exercised restraint and continues to prioritise diplomacy. However, he made it clear that the country retains the right to defend its sovereignty and territory. He added that national security remains a top priority, and assured that all systems are functioning normally, with daily life continuing without disruption.
