Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday inaugurated the state-level ‘Revenue Lok Adalat’ through video conferencing, aiming to simplify and speed up the resolution of pending cases. He said the initiative reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of inclusive development and ensuring that government benefits reach every citizen quickly and easily.

Dhami stated that the programme is designed to resolve long-pending revenue disputes in a meaningful and time-bound manner. He noted that such cases are not just legal matters but are directly linked to farmers’ land, family livelihoods, and personal dignity.

The Chief Minister informed that over 400 revenue courts are functioning across the state at different levels, including the Revenue Council, Commissioner courts, Collector courts, and courts at tehsil levels. Currently, more than 50,000 cases are pending in these courts.

To address this backlog, the government has introduced the Revenue Lok Adalat based on the principles of simplification, resolution, disposal, and satisfaction. Under the “Justice at Your Doorstep” concept, Lok Adalats are being held at 210 locations across all 13 districts, with around 6,933 cases expected to be resolved quickly.

Apart from land disputes, cases related to excise, food, stamp duty, SARFAESI Act, Goonda Act, CrPC, Electricity Act, Senior Citizens Act, and Rent Control Act will also be settled in a transparent manner.

Dhami also highlighted that revenue court processes have been digitised through an online portal, allowing people to file and track cases from home. He directed officials to complete inheritance-related mutations on time and resolve land disputes within a month.

Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan assured that all pending cases will be cleared on priority. Revenue Secretary Ranjana Rajguru was also present.
