Keerthy Suresh, one of the brightest stars in Indian cinema, has spoken about a surprising pause in her career after the huge success of Mahanati. The biopic, directed by Nag Ashwin, won her a National Award and praise from critics and audiences alike. Yet, despite the film’s triumph, Keerthy revealed that she did not receive any new offers for nearly six months.
Speaking at a recent press meet, she said, Would you believe me if I say that after Mahanati, I didn’t get any films for almost six months? No one even came to narrate a script to me. The actress explained that she did not feel upset by the silence. Instead, she chose to see it as a positive break. I wasn’t disappointed because I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. I thought people were taking time to create a strong role for me. I used that gap to work on a makeover, she added.
In Mahanati, Keerthy played the legendary actress Savitri, a role that cemented her place as one of the most promising talents in the industry. The film also featured Dulquer Salmaan, Samantha, and Vijay Deverakonda in key roles.
Now, Keerthy is preparing for her next big release, Revolver Rita, which will hit theatres this weekend. The film has already received a U/A certificate, making it suitable for family audiences. With its trailer full of humour and action, and the newly released song poster Danger Mamae, excitement among fans is running high for the November 28 premiere.
