Raichur Officials review departmental progress

Raichur

A review meeting of various departments was held at the District Panchayat office in Raichur on Monday, chaired by Ritesh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Department of Finance, Government of Karnataka. Officials focused on improving SSLC results in the district, which have seen a decline in recent years. Data revealed that in Devadurga taluk, 17 schools recorded pass percentages below 40%, and in Raichur city, 60 schools showed similarly low results. Authorities noted a lack of writing skills among students and irregular school attendance, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions at both city and village levels.

Taluk nodal officers were instructed to visit 2-3 schools weekly to monitor progress. Special attention must be given to students from backward communities, ensuring they remain in school.

The meeting also reviewed provisions in hostels managed by Social Welfare, SC/ST Welfare, Minority Welfare, and Backward Class Welfare departments. Officers were instructed to monitor food quality and supply, while biometric attendance for students was made mandatory to prevent discrepancies with registers.

Officials also discussed crop damage caused by heavy rainfall affecting paddy, cotton, toor dal, and jowar. Joint Agriculture Directors reported ongoing survey work, which must be completed promptly.

Additionally, the Health Department was instructed to ensure distribution of sanitary pads and coordinate with relevant departments for supply. Provisions for hostel facilities, including accommodation and basic amenities, were also addressed.

On a positive note, the district recognized Malamma, Development Officer of Bichchali Gram Panchayat, for outstanding performance in September. Present at the meeting were District Collectors Nitish K, CEO Eshwar Kumar Kandu, Raichur Municipal Commissioner Jubin Mohapatra, Assistant Commissioner Gajanan Bale, Deputy Secretary Halasiddappa Poojari, Chief Planners Dr. T. Roti, and Project Director Sharan Basavaraj K., along with officials from multiple departments.
