Anisimova stuns Gauff to enter China final

Anisimova’s win over Gauff gave her a 2-1 head-to-head lead and secured her second WTA 1000 final this season, highlighting her consistent performance

American tennis star Amanda Anisimova reached the final of the China Open on Saturday after a powerful win over defending champion Coco Gauff. The 24-year-old third seed crushed Gauff 6-1, 6-2 in the semi-final, wrapping up the match in just 58 minutes.

Anisimova, who was runner-up at both Wimbledon and the U.S. Open this year, showed complete control throughout the game. She raced to a 5-0 lead in the first set before Gauff managed to win one game. The second set followed the same pattern, with Anisimova dominating early to lead 5-0 again. Though Gauff fought back to take two games, it wasn’t enough to stop her opponent’s steady momentum.

This victory gave Anisimova a 2-1 edge in her career meetings with fellow American Gauff. The win also marked her second appearance in a WTA 1000 final this season, proving her consistent form on the tour.

“I was really excited to play in my first semi-final here,” Anisimova said after the match. “I knew I had to perform my best against Coco to get the win. The support from the crowd has been incredible since day one, and it really helped me through.”

Anisimova will face either fellow American Jessica Pegula or Czech player Linda Noskova in Sunday’s final. Fans in Beijing are expected to turn up in large numbers to cheer for her as she aims for another major title this season.
