Rukmini Vasanth Completes Dubbing for ‘Kantara Chapter 1’

Rukmini Vasanth has wrapped up her dubbing for Kantara: Chapter 1, where she plays the character Kanakavathi. Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the film is currently in its final stages of production. Sharing her excitement, Rukmini posted a playful video from the recording studio on social media with the caption, Kanakavathi Coming Your Way.

The upcoming film is a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, which was made on a modest budget of ₹16 crore but went on to earn over ₹400 crore worldwide. Unlike the first film, Kantara: Chapter 1 travels back centuries to 300 CE, during the reign of the Kadamba dynasty. The story is rooted in the mystical forests of Banavasi, believed to be the birthplace of divine spirits, adding a deeper mythological layer to the narrative.

The cast includes Jayaram, Rakesh Poojari, and Gulshan Devaiah in important roles. The film is set for a grand pan-India release on October 2, arriving in multiple languages to reach a wider audience.

Rukmini, who rose to fame with Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, has been steadily building her career with diverse roles. Recently seen in Madharaasi, she will next be part of two major projects—Jr. NTR’s NTRNEEL (tentatively titled Dragon) and Yash’s upcoming gangster drama Toxic, where she plays a key role. With such strong projects lined up, Rukmini continues to cement her place in Indian cinema.
