A distressing incident unfolded at one of Bengaluru’s well-known culinary establishments, the Nammura-Thindi Hotel, resulting in a steamer blast that left three individuals seriously injured. The incident occurred within the bustling kitchen of the Nagarbavi-based hotel, causing significant concern among locals. This unfortunate incident follows a recent fire accident at the quality control unit of the BBMP head office, where nine individuals sustained serious injuries. The city’s safety preparedness is being closely scrutinized as these incidents unfold. On this occasion, the blast occurred due to a steamer’s overpressure, causing it to rupture. Despite the hotel’s routine operations proceeding as usual, the intense force of the blast wreaked havoc within the kitchen, damaging the surroundings extensively. The victims, Aishwarya, Basikumar, and Karthik, were all kitchen staff who were on duty when the blast transpired. While their injuries were grave, it’s relieving to note that their current health status has been deemed stable, as they undergo treatment at a local hospital. Immediate action was taken by the hotel management, who ensured the swift hospitalization and treatment of the injured individuals. In a reassuring statement, the hotel owner confirmed that none of the customers were harmed in the incident, as it occurred during the staff’s operational hours. Local authorities, specifically the Gnanabharati Police, arrived promptly at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. The kitchen staff and the hotel owner are being questioned to ascertain whether any negligence contributed to the unfortunate incident. In the interim, the hotel’s services have been temporarily suspended, allowing for the necessary repairs and safety assessments to take place. The police have issued a stern reminder to the hotel management to prioritize safety protocols and measures to prevent any future occurrences.
