Preparations have been completed for conducting Khelo India University Games 2021. The Logo, Theme song and Jersey for the games will be released on April 1, said Minister for Silk, Youth Empowerment and Sports Dr Narayanagowda.
The minister gave details about the preparations for Khelo India University Games 2021 at a press conference held at Vidhana Soudha.
It is a matter of pride for Karnataka to host the second edition of Khelo India University Games. The Games will be held from April 24th to May 3rd. The Logo of the games, Theme song, Jersey, Mobile app will be released on April 1st. The function will be held at Sri Kanteeravana Indoor Stadium. Governor Thavar Chand Gehlot, , Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports Anurag Singh Thakur, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Nisith Pramanik, Higher Eduction Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan and other dignitaries will be participating, the minister said.
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will inaugurate the Khelo India University Games on April 24th. Many athletes who have made significant achievements in national and international sports competitions and other dignitaries will be participating.
The games which will be held for ten days consists of about 20 events including Athletics, Judo, Volleyball, Kabaddi, Basketball, Karate, Mallakambh. About 8 thousand athletes and staff from more than 200 universities in the country will be participating in the games. The games will be conducted by Jain University Campus, Kanteerava Stadium. Preparations were made from the last six months for smooth conduct of the games. For the last two months, special attention has been given for the preparations, minister Dr Narayanagowda said.
Famous Kannada rapper, Singer Chandan Shetty, has composed the theme song for Khelo India University Games.
In addition to sports, Government intends to create awareness about environment protection and in this context the Khelo India University Games has been declared as “Green Games”, the minister said.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given all cooperation for successful organization of the games and guiding to take the sports to a newer height. In addition to this, the chief minister Basavaraj Bommai is also collecting information daily and encouraging, Dr Narayanagowda said.
Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur will release the book “Karyapath” describing the achievements of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department of the state.
The new synthetic track constructed in the Kanteeravana Stadium will also be inaugurated on April 24th.
Additional Chief Secretary Dr Shalini Rajaneesh, Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Gopalakrishna, Vice Chancellor of Jain University were present.
