Drone attack targets Netanyahu’s home

Tel Aviv

A drone strike targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s holiday home in Caesarea, northern Israel on Saturday. This incident occurred alongside a larger attack where over 100 rockets were fired into northern Israel from Lebanon, resulting in one confirmed death and at least 13 injuries. Netanyahu’s spokesman confirmed that he was not at home during the attack and reported no casualties at the residence.

The Israeli military intercepted two of the three drones launched from Lebanon, but the successful hit on Netanyahu’s house raised serious concerns. Israeli authorities are treating the drone strike as a potential assassination attempt, highlighting the gravity of the situation given that the drone managed to reach its target undetected from 70 kilometers away.

The coordinated attacks, with rockets being used as decoys for the drone strike, indicate an escalation in tensions between Israel and Iran-aligned Hezbollah, which has been engaged in hostilities with Israel since October of the previous year. Sirens sounded across northern Israel, including in key cities like Galilee and Haifa, as residents were alerted to the rocket fire.
