Tyres of a tipper transporting M sand for road construction works exploded near Nagappa Block of Gauribidanur. As a result the tipper also caught fire and was gutted.
The tipper was transporting M sand for road works being carried at Peresandra to Bypass road. The loss due to the fire mishap is estimated at Rs 2.50 lakhs. The driver however, jumped from the vehicle and saved his life.
The locals informed the fire department. The fire fighting personnel rushed to the spot and avoided further losses. Fire fighting officer Santosh, who visited the spot said, the capacity of the tipper is 25 tonnes. However, it was carrying M sand of approximately 45 tonnes, which is illegal and violation of rules. On the one hand the owner and on the other RTO officials negligence is the cause for the mishap.
Summer season has already started and it is common that fire mishaps may occur at any time. The villagers have to be very careful near grass stackings and gas shops, he said.
