More Than Usual Rains In July, Notice To Deputy Commissioners To Take Precautionary Measures, Minister Krishna Byregowda

Minister Krishna Byregowda said that there has been good rain in the hill country, coast and northern hinterland for the past one week and the authorities have been instructed to take precautionary measures to prevent loss of life and property.

The minister held a press conference at Vikasa Soudha on Monday and gave information, In the month of June, the state was 56 percent short of rain. But in the month of July it rained more than usual. Thus, the amount of rain deficiency has decreased from 56 to  14 percent. Overall, 80 percent of the rains have occurred in the state. For the past one week, there has been good rain in Bidar and Kalaburagi,  in the hill country, coastal and northern inland areas, and instructions have been given to take precautionary measures to avoid loss of life and property, he informed.

Northern inland parts have received 170 percent more rain than normal in the last one week. In Kalaburgi  district 300, Yadagiri 160,  Bidar 155,  Belagavi 186, Bagalkot 174, Vijayapura 185 and Gadag district 166  percent more than normal rainfall. Also, there is a possibility of good rains in the coming days as well.

Although the state has received good rainfall for the past one week, Bangalore City, Bem-Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chamarajanagar, Mysore and Mandya districts are deficient.

There has been good rainfall in the coastal and hilly areas for the past few weeks, the overall rainfall is less than the usual rainfall there. However, Minister Krishnabhairegowda said that there is a report of the Meteorological Department that there will be good rains across the state till July 28, and there is confidence that the lack of rain will be overcome, the Minister said.
