Kateel Suggests Names For Trains

Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has urged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to name trains originating from Mangaluru . In a letter, the MP stated that some of the train names such as Netravati Express, and Mangala Express have become iconic.
He has submitted a list of nine trains that are running without names. Naming these trains is a long pending demand of the public and it will boost the confidence of the people. Most of the names suggested are names of the rivers, he stated.
The MP has suggested naming 16585/86 KSR Bengaluru-Mangaluru Central (Six days a week) as Mangaladevi Express. He suggested that daily trains 16511/12 KSR Bengaluru- Kannur be named Rani Abbakka Express, 06601/02 Madgaon Junction-Mangaluru Central as Sowparnika Express, 22609/10 Mangaluru Central-Coimbatore Junction as Tulunad Intercity Express, 12685/86 MGR Chennai Central-Mangaluru Central as Tejaswini SF Express, 16159/60 Chennai Egmore-Mangaluru central as Chandragiri Express, 16347/48 Trivandrum Central-Mangaluru Central as Karavali Express, 07377/78 Vijayapura-Mangaluru Junction as Hemavathi Express and 17605/06 Mangaluru Central-Kacheguda that runs on Wednesday and Saturday as Phalguni Express.
The MP has also written to the General Manager of South Western Railway, requesting additional stoppages for trains 16515/16, 16575/76 and 16539/40 and 16585/86 at the stations of Yedamangala, Kaniyoor and Kodimbala.
