Chinnara Chavadi, Vamanjoor, launched Plant a sapling, click a selfie, a unique campaign to spread the message of nature conservation among children. The campaign on the theme ‘Selfie with future’ was launched at Tiruvil Kordabbu Daivastana in the presence of anganwadi children.
Vinaya, Headmistress of Anjuman English Medium School, Jokatte, said that the campaign is aimed at ensuring a healthy future for the younger generation. We have been witnessing a situation where the number of trees is getting reduced when cities are turning into concrete jungles. Roads are being developed into concrete stretches and it leads to climatic imbalance considerably. We are losing our environment only due to the greed of people, she said.
Expressing concern over the extinction of many species of trees, Vinaya said that children will have to see such trees in pictures or museums in future, if the situation continues. There could be a situation where people may find it difficult to breathe, if we do not plant saplings. We need to protect the future of our children from a possible dreadful situation. Hence, every child should plant saplings for their future and we need to preserve various species of trees, she added.
Children of Chinnara Chavadi participated in the campaign along with Anganwadi teacher Malathi.
