The state government formed a commission for the re-distribution of the Bengaluru local government body Burhat Bangalore Mahanagara Corporation ward. Intended to submit ward reallocation report within 12 weeks. The tenure of BBMP members (Corporators) has been completed in September 2020. Wards were redistributed into 198 wards for conducting elections. Later, the new act BBMP-2020 was enacted from the administrative point of view. At this time, BBMP’s coverage was divided into 243 wards. Later the wards were redistributed electorally. However, the ex-members of the council had approached the court saying that the ward redistricting was not appropriate. The High Court, which inquired into the matter, had issued an order to rectify the mistakes and redistribute the wards within 12 weeks. In this background, the state Congress government has now once again (for the third time) formed a commission for the redistribution of BBMP wards and issued an order. As instructed by the High Court, the state government has abandoned the old notification of ward redistribution, and issued an order forming a new committee for the delimitation of wards. According to the order of the High Court, the new commission has been instructed to redistribute the wards within 12 weeks. The BBMP Chief Commissioner is the Chairman of the Restructuring Commission formed by the government. Besides, BDA Commissioner, Bangalore District Collector and BBMP Revenue Commissioner have been made members.
