Metro Pink Line Is Ready For Inauguration By December Next Year

Work on the 21.25-km-long metro pink line between Nagwara and Kalena Agrahara will be completed and ready for inauguration by December next year. The metro link between Outer Ring Road and Bannerghatta Road will completely change the city’s traffic landscape, top BMRCL officials said. In the second phase, a 13.89 km tunnel corridor is being constructed on Reach 6 route from Nagawara to Derry Circle, officials said. A 7.5 km elevated road is being constructed from Tavarekere (from Swagat Cross) to Kalena Agrahara (Gottigere) and the contract has been awarded to GR Infra Limited. The elevated road will be ready by December next year. Out of 251 segmental spans, 43 are yet to be completed. We are looking forward to laying the track by October this year. He informed that the construction work of the station is going on steadily and only the finishing work is left. Fast track tunnel construction is divided into four packages. Dairy Circle to Vellara Junction (RT-01) Vellara Junction to Shivaji Nagar (RT-02); Shivajinagar to Pottery Town (RT-03) and Tannery Road to Nagawara (RT-04) out of which RT-03 and RT-04 have been leased to Larson & Toubro Ltd. who have completed the tunneling work. Construction of the other two tunnels is progressing well. A total of 78 percent of tunnel construction has been completed near Jayanagar Fire Station near Dairy Circle. On the north ramp from Tannery Road. Chief Engineer Subrahmanya Gudge told that 50 percent of the work has been completed. Chief Engineer (Tunnel 2) Dayananda Shetty said that Tunga and Bhadra machines are still digging the tunnel between Venkatespur and KG Halli.
