Former assembly speaker and senior BJP leader Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri said the state government should consult experts regarding revision of school textbooks.
He was speaking at a programme held to mark the ninth anniversary of the central government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Thursday.
During my tenure as education minister in 2008, textbook revision was made through the Mudambadithaya Committee. Though the Congress had opposed it then, the Central government and the UGC considered it as the best. Later, under chief minister Siddaramaiah, the Baraguru Committee revised textbooks by adding texts that promote slave mentality. The previous BJP government made a revision through Rohith Chakrathirtha. Now the Congress government is removing the content of freedom fighters Rajguru, Sukhdev and Bhagat Singh only because of hatred against Chakravarty Sulibele. Let the government seek the opinion of experts and make a decision, Kageri said.
The BJP leader lashed out at the Congress and said the government has become a hub of confusion. People have been repenting for choosing the Congress. No discussion takes place on development because of confusion regarding the guarantee schemes of the government. The statement of minister Satish Jarkiholi alleging the Central government is hacking the state’s welfare scheme portal proves intellectual bankruptcy. The government has been following a politics of hatred, he said.

Former minister Araga Jnanendra said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who spoke about erosion of Indian democracy in America, should be taught that democracy was in danger during the Emergency in the nation.
BJP national general secretary CT Ravi and former minister Kota Shrinivas Poojari also spoke.
