Sudden Rain Returns to Bengaluru

Must read

Bangalore experienced sudden rainfall on Wednesday, after a few days of dry weather, affecting several areas including Richmond Town. The unexpected downpour caught motorists off guard, causing disruption during the afternoon.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the possibility of further rain later in the evening. Despite the cooler weather since the onset of the monsoon season in April, the IMD forecasts a decrease in rainfall from Tuesday onwards.

Earlier this month, Bangalore broke a 113-year-old record for rainfall in the first week of June, recording 120 mm in just two days, surpassing the average of 110.3 mm for the entire month. The previous highest single-day rainfall was 111 mm on June 16, 1891.

There is no indication from the IMD of an increase in temperatures or heatwaves in Bangalore, providing some relief to residents. As the city copes with fluctuating weather conditions, authorities advise caution, particularly for commuters navigating the rain-drenched roads.
