Locals attacked tourists at Abbi Falls, a major tourist spot near Madikeri. The video of the assault was captured on a mobile camera and has gone viral on social media.
Tourists had come to see Abbi Falls from outside the district. They went to take a photo in the coffee plantation. The locals then reportedly created a ruckus over the issue of stopping the vehicle on the way. During this time, they got into a heated argument and removed the stick from the car and attacked them. The tourists have lodged a complaint with the Suntikoppa Police alleging that they were assaulted by locals irrespective of the presence of women with them.
There is no protection for tourists at the tourist spot. I am scared to see the video of the locals assaulting me. Children and women are not protected, said a tourist.
There was a scuffle in Abbi Falls a few days ago. Now there’s a commotion again. Attacks are taking place at various tourist places. There are also demands from the district administration and the police department to provide adequate protection to tourists coming from outside the state and outside the district. Disturbances have been on the rise at many tourist spots in the district recently. It is being said that the reason for this is that the police have not been deployed.
