City doctors have succeeded in treating a Kenyan patient suffering from a rare eye disease. A patient from Kenya had reached the point of complete loss of vision. Right eye movement was completely gone for 3 weeks. The patient was suffering from severe eye and headache. Due to the seriousness of the problem, the patient has been treated by doctors from many hospitals in Kenya and America. However, the treatment was not successful anywhere. Finally the patient reached BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital in the city where the patient was successfully treated. The patient suffered from a rare vision problem called idiopathic inflammatory orbital cellulitis, which causes swelling of the eye and optic nerve. Zero-cut endoscopic optic nerve decompression surgery was performed to reduce swelling, improve fluid and blood flow in the eye. It helped the woman regain her sight. Dr Prashant R Reddy, chief ENT and endoscopic skull base surgeon at BGS Gleneagles Global Hospital, said the woman recovered completely within two days.
