Good news for metro commuters, Bengaluru city is likely to open another metro line by July this year. This will further reduce the vehicular traffic in several important areas of the city. Yes, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited’s (BMRCL) Metro’s Yellow Line, which connects Bommasandra to the busy Central Silk Board, is expected to open for public use in three months, according to reports. RV Road, Ragigudda, Jayadeva Hospital, BTM Layout, Central Silk Board, Bommanahalli, Singhasandra, Electronic City, Bommasandra, Hongasandra, Kudlu Gate, New Road, Beratena Agrahara, Konappana Agrahara, Huskuru Road, Hebbagodi, Hebbagodi Road will be stopping. BMRCL sources said in a release that most of the construction works, including tracks and stations, have already been completed, while some minor works are left. The line on the Electronics City side was originally scheduled to be completed by June. But now if everything goes according to schedule it is estimated to open in late July or early August. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the much awaited Whitefield to KR Puram Metro line in Bengaluru. It is a 13.71 km extension of Bangalore Metro’s Phase 2 project, built at a cost of around ₹4,250 crore. BMRCL aims to build a 175-km metro network by June 2025, said Anjum Parvez, Managing Director, BMRCL.
