Karnataka BJP leaders are strongly opposing the recent classification of certain lands as Waqf properties, sparking considerable controversy. However, the focus has shifted back to them, especially to former Minister of Haj and Waqf, Shashikala Jolle, whose family has encountered troubling news about their own land.

The issue centers on a land registration document for 2 acres and 13 guntas owned by Shashikala’s younger son, Basavaprabhu Jolle. This property, located in survey number 337 in Yaksamba village of Chikkodi taluk, has been in the Jolle family for generations but is now designated as Waqf land. This classification occurred during Shashikala Jolle’s term as Minister of the Waqf Board from 2021 to 2023, raising questions about her motivations.

Basavaprabhu expressed his shock at learning his family’s land was classified as Waqf property, noting he never received any notice from the Waqf Board about this change. This situation has led to scrutiny of Shashikala Jolle’s actions while in office, where many farmers’ lands were similarly categorized without prior notice. In 2023, several farmers in districts like Koppal and Vijayapura were also informed about their lands being designated as Waqf properties without prior communication. This ongoing issue raises serious questions about the Waqf Board’s integrity and the BJP leaders’ land dealings, creating a complicated political landscape in Karnataka.
