Tensions escalated in Kadakola village, Savanur taluk, Haveri, when an angry mob threw stones at the homes of local Muslim leaders amid a dispute over Wakf land. The conflict began after Wakf Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan held a meeting on September 3, where he insisted that Wakf properties in the Kadakola gram panchayat should be registered under the Wakf account. This directive, followed by instructions from ZP CEO Akshay Sridhar on September 27, sparked unrest among residents, who feared the potential transfer of properties and evictions.

During the incident, stones were hurled at the home of Muslim leader Rafi, damaging a parked motorcycle.

The violence was fueled by rumors that residential properties were at risk. In response, Haveri District Commissioner Vijay Mahantesh and Superintendent of Police Amshukumar arrived to address the situation. They reported that police have detained several individuals involved in the unrest, although the area remains tense but under control. DC Mahantesh explained that confusion arose from a property known as Garadi Mane in Kadakola.

Many were misled by media reports, fearing their homes would be seized by Wakf authorities. He clarified that no individual notices were issued; a general letter prompted actions based on previous records. SP Amshukumar confirmed that complaints from affected individuals are being registered, and security measures have been heightened, with four KSRP platoons and 200 officers deployed in the area.
