Election Seduction, Iron Boxes Worth Rs 60 Lakh Seized For Illegally Transporting

As the election approaches, there have been sporadic cases of voters being lured with various offers. A Police team led by SP Jayaprakash raided and seized a canter vehicle carrying iron boxes worth lakhs of rupees. City police raided a canter vehicle and seized 6798, iron boxes belonging to prominent political leaders of the district near Maharudrappa’s pit on the outskirts of the city.
The police, who inspected the canter vehicle, found 6798 ironboxes worth approximately Rs 60 lakh. The driver of the vehicle did not have a proper bill and the police have intensified the investigation. It has come to light that the police raided the area on the suspicion that iron boxes belonging to prominent political leaders in the district might be present. There were also allegations that iron boxes were being distributed to lure voters. Following this, the driver of the canter vehicle was taken into custody and the police are investigating.
There were also allegations about the distribution of iron boxes in Bilagi constituency. The workers of a party were going door-to-door and distributing it when the farmers stopped them. It is learnt that the police have received information from various sources about these iron boxes being transported to Bilagi constituency.
Meanwhile, in another case, police have seized Rs 16 lakh in cash which was being illegally transported under the jurisdiction of Aminagarh police station. The police raided and seized Rs 16 lakh in cash while it was being transported to Gudura village via Aminagarh. The driver has been taken into custody as the money was being moved without any documents and the investigation is on.
Even before the model code of conduct came into force for the assembly elections in the state, smuggling of illegal goods and cash has been going on at a rapid pace. The District police have already set up check posts at important places, conducting checks and keeping an eye on the eagle.
