Developed Land To Be Allotted To Farmers: Minister Nirani

Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) has decided to allot 10,781 sq.ft of land to the beneficiaries in each acre developed by the Board if the farmers prefer not to go cash compensation for the acquired land

Made the announcement in the Legislative Council on Tuesday. Replying to Congress MLC Saleem Ahmed’s query in the Legislative Council on Tuesday, Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani said the Board has decided to allot increased portion of land to the owners. “Earlier land owners were allotted 9,500 sq.ft of developed land. The Board will give 10,781 sqft of land per acre following demand from the land owners. A person from the family who lost the land will be provided job in the industries set up in the acquired land as per his or her qualification,” Nirani said.

The Minister further added that nowhere in the country except Karnataka, such a scheme has been introduced where a land donor is allotted alternative land after the development of acquired land.

Giving details on the land acquired by the KIADB in the state, Minister Nirani said: “KIADB has acquired total 1,62,000 acres of land in various districts out of which 83,058 acres for developing industrial areas and 79,017 acres acquired under the single-unit complex.”
