Vidya Balan is currently on a promotional spree for her upcoming film, ‘Jalsa’. During a recent interaction, the actress was quizzed about one film of hers that she wishes more people had watched. The actress said ‘Kahaani 2’.
During an interaction, the actress revealed that her film could have drawn more viewers to the theatres if it were not for demonetisation. Her film was released on December 2, less than a month after the Government of India announced the demonetisation of all ₹500 and ₹1,000 banknotes.
While speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the actress revealed that due to demonetisation people didn’t go to the theatre. She further added that she is not confident that the film would have done well if not for the demonetisation. She laughed and said ”it’s comforting that there’s an excuse.”
Speaking about the 2016 film, it was a thriller film, in which Vidya played Durga Rani Singh who is charged with kidnapping and murder of a young girl with paralysis. The film had opened to mixed reviews from critics.
Vidya went on to win the Filmfare Best Actress award for ‘Kahaani’ and earned a nomination in the category for her work in its sequel. She wished the second film was watched by more people.
