Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai said: “We will set up multipurpose cooperatives for women in all taluks of the state with 90 per cent equity capital of the government.”
He was speaking after presenting the ‘Sahakaara Ratna’ to the achievements of the Co-operative Housing Federation, State Co-operative Housing Federation and Co-operative Department. A total of 60 people have been shortlisted for the award along with the late actor Puneeth Rajkumar.
“Backward classes, Scheduled Castes and Tribes belong to various organizations of the cooperative sector. Membership fees of the community will be borne by the government to promote this. The involvement of working class and women is crucial to the success of the cooperative sector. We have decided to make an industrial revolution in the cooperative sector.
‘The benefit of milk production should go directly to dairy farmers. With this in mind, we have decided to set up a ‘Milky Way’ bank. Rs 100 crore has been provided in the budget. Steps are being taken to start a bank soon in each taluk. Milk producers will get low interest rates through this bank,” he said.
‘The application of co-operative information in textbooks has been requested. Many have demanded that lawmakers’ funds be used for the development of the co-operative sector. We will look into these demands.
‘After the term of the presidency has expired, he is giving up another opportunity to become president later. This attitude has to change,” said Basavaraja Bommai.
‘The co-operative sector should remain supportive. The answer to capitalism and egalitarianism is the answer.
