The camera trapping equipment installed for the purpose of tiger census has captured movement of leopard, bear etc a number of times. The camera installed in the Kadumane area of Kurubara Gudda in Indabettu village of the taluk clicked these images.

It has been confirmed that leopards and bears keep moving around this area. The locals have also talked about the leopard and bear seen in this area often. However, they have not posed any danger to the people so far. Some other wild animals like the wild boars, porcupines, antelope etc have also moved in front of the camera several times.

It may be recalled that a leopard had been sighted in the camera located in Thotathadi on March 7. Therefore it is confirmed that leopards exist in at least two villages in the taluk. Even though wild elephants move around several areas where camera trapping is in progress now, they have so far not been captured on camera.
