Congress MP Shinde Calls PM’s Birthday ‘Black Day’

Congress MP Praniti Shinde criticises Modi, Maharashtra government over governance, press freedom, and farmers’ issues.

New Delhi

Congress MP Praniti Shinde on Tuesday strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Maharashtra government, calling the PM’s birthday a “black day” for the opposition. Speaking to reporters in her Solapur constituency after meeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shinde alleged that the country was facing an “undeclared Emergency,” with opposition voices being suppressed.

She claimed that the opposition is not allowed to speak, votes are being manipulated, and press freedom has been curtailed, calling the media “Godi Media.” Highlighting farmers’ struggles, she said protests are ignored and urged the government to provide immediate compensation for losses caused by heavy rains in Solapur, which damaged soybean and other crops.

Shinde also accused the Solapur Municipal Corporation of corruption and poor drainage work, saying that despite large funds being sanctioned, water entered people’s homes. She added that municipal elections have not been held for four years, calling it a “murder of democracy.”

On sports, she criticised the recent India-Pakistan cricket match, arguing it sent the wrong message while Operation Sindoor is ongoing. She said the match pressured players not to shake hands with Pakistani cricketers, hurting the morale of India’s armed forces, and accused the BCCI of prioritising commercial interests over national sentiment.

Shinde also slammed the government over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, alleging manipulation to influence elections. “Vote theft is happening across the country. In Bihar, our demand for parliamentary discussion was ignored. The system has collapsed,” she claimed, accusing the ruling party of undermining democracy.

This series of remarks reflects Shinde’s strong opposition to the central and state governments, highlighting concerns about governance, farmers’ welfare, press freedom, electoral fairness, and national security.
