The buzz around Kantara: Chapter 1 is growing stronger as Amazon Prime Video has acquired its post-theatrical digital rights for a massive ₹125 crore. This makes it one of the most expensive OTT deals for a Kannada film, next only to KGF 2. The agreement covers streaming in multiple languages, ensuring the film’s reach across India.
Adding to the excitement, the theatrical trailer is expected to be released around September 20, just ahead of its Gandhi Jayanti release on October 2. With nearly 20 international VFX studios involved in the project, the makers are promising audiences a visually rich and grand cinematic journey.
Meanwhile, confusion regarding the film’s Kerala release has been cleared. Reports had suggested that the Rishab Shetty-starrer faced a ban in the state. However, the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) confirmed that no such restriction exists. The issue arose due to differences in revenue-sharing terms—distributors had demanded a 55% share for two weeks, while FEUOK approved the same only for the first week. FEUOK executive member Bobby clarified that discussions are still ongoing and no decision to halt the release has been made.
With the Kerala release assured and the trailer announcement around the corner, fans are eagerly counting down to October 2. As a prequel to the original blockbuster, Kantara: Chapter 1 carries huge expectations, and Rishab Shetty’s ambitious vision has already set the stage for one of the biggest releases of the year.
