The Sub-Urban Police of Hubli have arrested two youths for allegedly raping a 14 and 15 year old girls.
The accused are Praveen from Udupi, and Abhishek from Mangaluru.
According to a complaint filed by the parents of one of the girls, Praveen and Abhishek had sexually assaulted the victims on the pretext of protecting them.
The girls had run away from a hostel in Koppal, and had reached Hubballi, where they met the two youths. Praveen and Abhishek reportedly assured girls of keeping them safe and helping them return home. However, they took the two girls to neighbouring districts, and raped them for over three days.
The incident came to light when one of the girls called her parents over phone and informed them about their current location. The parents, along with police arrived at the place and rescued the girls and arrested the two youths.
The Sub-Urban Police of Hubli have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigations are on.
