District surveillance committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of the District Collector. Officials reviewed dengue, chikungunya, malaria, leptospirosis, rabies, snake bite cases, and KFD prevention efforts in detail. From January to March 2026, the district reported 14 dengue cases, 5 chikungunya, 1 malaria and 1 leptospirosis case. There were also 2779 dog bite incidents, 482 other animal bites, 1 rabies death, 44 snake bites and 4 outbreak cases. Collector instructed departments to work together and strengthen clean water supply, sanitation, mosquito control, and public awareness activities.
People were advised to boil drinking water, avoid stagnant water, seek immediate treatment for fever symptoms, and complete vaccinations. Authorities also stressed wound cleaning after animal bites, immediate rabies vaccination, and hospital care for snake bites without home remedies. Health officials said public cooperation is essential to control infectious diseases across the district during the current season. Senior health officers, veterinary officials, and district administration staff attended the meeting and shared updates on disease control measures. They highlighted coordination between health, water, and local bodies as key to preventing outbreaks and ensuring faster response in villages. Officials appealed to citizens to follow health guidelines, maintain hygiene, and report symptoms early to nearby health centres for timely treatment.
This coordinated effort, they said, will help reduce disease spread, protect vulnerable communities, and improve overall public health conditions in Gadag district. People were also reminded to use footwear in wet areas, keep food and water clean, and strictly avoid superstition-based treatments during emergencies.
