AHMEDABAD
In a heartwarming scene at the Narendra Modi Stadium, ICC Chairman Jay Shah was watching the IPL clash between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders alongside 1,000 differently-abled fans. Abandoning the luxury of the VIP box, Shah and former India captain Sourav Ganguly sat in the stands to share the excitement of the game directly with the supporters.
The match proved to be a thriller for the packed crowd. Batting first, KKR struggled early on, falling to a shaky 32-3. However, Cameron Green played a heroic knock of 79 runs from 55 balls, lifting his team to a competitive total of 180. His partnerships with Rovman Powell and Anukul Roy turned a potential disaster into a fighting chance for the Kolkata side.
The Gujarat Titans chased the target with grit, led by captain Shubman Gill’s masterful 86 runs. Supported by Kagiso Rabada’s disciplined bowling earlier in the evening, GT secured the win with just two balls to spare. This victory marks a three-match winning streak for Gujarat, moving them up to fourth place on the points table.
In contrast, the loss marks a difficult period for KKR, who remain at the bottom of the table without a single win in six matches. While the Titans prepare to face Mumbai Indians, KKR will head home to Kolkata, hoping to find their form against Rajasthan Royals. For the fans in attendance, however, the night was a memorable celebration of inclusion.
