Raichur
Raichur district recorded the highest temperature in the state on Saturday, as soaring summer heat continued to intensify across Karnataka. According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), Devasugur in Raichur taluk registered a maximum temperature of 44.2°C, the highest in the state, while nearby Kalamala village recorded 44°C.
Across most parts of the district, temperatures ranged between 42°C and 44.2°C, causing severe discomfort to residents. The sharp rise in temperature over the past few days has made conditions increasingly unbearable, with the scorching sun affecting normal life. People are finding it difficult to step outdoors, with many choosing to remain indoors to avoid the extreme heat. Roads and open areas appear deserted during peak hours, as the intense sunlight and hot winds make movement challenging. To cope with the heat, citizens are consuming more water and cold drinks to stay hydrated. The prolonged spell of high temperatures has added to the hardship, particularly for daily wage workers and those exposed to outdoor conditions. Notably, the Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS), a major power generation plant, is located near Devasugur, one of the worst-affected areas recording extreme temperatures. Authorities have advised residents to take precautions and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun during peak hours.
