Modi to launch Rs 19,800 cr projects in Gujarat

Gandhinagar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on March 31, 2026, to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 19,800 crore. The event will take place at Vav-Tharad in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other senior officials.

The projects include Rs 10,921 crore under Union ministries such as Power, Road Transport and Highways, and Railways, along with Rs 8,886 crore under various departments of the Gujarat government. Key initiatives include projects at the Khavda renewable energy park in Kutch, aimed at boosting green energy and strengthening power supply.

Several road projects will also be launched, including new bypass roads and highway sections to improve connectivity. Major railway works, including new lines and track expansions, will be inaugurated to enhance transport services in the region.

Urban development projects form a large part of the plan, especially in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. These include canal development, modernisation of public transport, construction of bridges, housing for economically weaker sections, and new sports and community facilities.

In Gandhinagar, projects include sewer lines, a sewage treatment plant, lake interlinking, and improved drainage systems. Other sectors such as water supply, health, tourism, tribal development, and rural development will also see new initiatives.

Additionally, nearly 39,000 homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) will be handed over, helping many families achieve their dream of owning a house.
