The process of holding the BBMP elections has come to light following the Supreme Court order. The resettlement process for the wards has already been completed and the next two days are ready to be sent to the government.
Speaking to reporters on the issue, BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Girinath said the Supreme Court has given an 8-week deadline for the BBMP election. BBMP has to do ward re-sorting. The work has already been completed and a draft copy will be sent to the government in two days, he said.
The government will make a reservation for the wards. In which year, the reservation for which wards are allotted to the government. He said any reservations have been made since 1992.
Based on the 2011 census, the wards have been re-classified according to population. Some of the names of defending wards will be changed during the reorganization of wards. A ward is divided into two non-assembly constituencies. He said the overall population was divided by 243.
The BBMP members’ council building is being renovated as the number of wards increases from 198 wards to 243 wards. The objection came, he said. There is only 7 weeks left in the Supreme Court deadline for the BBMP election. A meeting was held yesterday and a proposal will be sent to the government within two days. The government will make the final decision.
People can express their opinions in two weeks. He said that a proposal has already been sent to the Bhakta Vatsala Samiti as per the reservation. Hemmigepura, Ambedkar Nagar is a notification for inclusion. Mallathahalli Village will also be added as a new ward.
