The Muzarai Department has announced a subsidy of ₹5,000 for state pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi temple in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, a religious building will be constructed on a 3/4-acre department-owned plot at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore, located opposite the government’s multi-storied building.
The Karnataka State Religious Council, led by Muzarai Minister Ramalingareddy, approved these measures in a recent meeting. Funds were also sanctioned to renovate the 120-year-old Sanskrit Maharaja College in Mysuru. Efforts to clear encroachments and provide records for temples will be prioritized, along with forming management committees for 14 temples where terms are ending.
Further, a ₹2 lakh subsidy will support families of deceased priests, and funds are allocated for pilgrimages under the Bharat Gaurav Yatra scheme. Free travel will be provided for 2,400 priests and their families, and Tahsildars will appoint family members of unwell hereditary priests.
