India’s KL Rahul reached a significant milestone by scoring 3,000 runs in Test cricket during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. He achieved this during the first innings of the first Test on Friday, contributing 26 runs off 74 balls, including three boundaries. However, his innings ended in controversy. Rahul was dismissed by Mitchell Starc, caught behind by wicketkeeper Alex Carey. There was debate over whether the snickometer detected the ball hitting the bat or the pad, but the third umpire ruled him out, stating the ball had hit the bat.
In his 54 Test matches, Rahul has now accumulated 3,007 runs, with eight centuries and 15 fifties at an average of 33.78. His highest score is 199, and he has proven to be a reliable performer in challenging overseas conditions, including in Australia, South Africa, and England. However, his career has been marked by some inconsistency.
This year, Rahul has managed only 260 runs in six matches, with an average of 32.50, scoring two fifties, his best being 86.
