Belagavi
KLE Society Chairman Prabhakar Kore expressed his opinion that if the winter session to be held in Belagavi in December becomes a full-term session, it will make sense. The intention behind holding legislature sessions in Belagavi was to resolve the problems of this region. However, the sessions have been happening for more than a decade, but the solution to the problems is none.
In a release, Kore stated that with the dream of developing North Karnataka, ‘the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha was built in Belagavi in 2012 at a cost of Rs 400 crore. By holding a mere 10-day session every year, people’s emotions have been cooled. The Belagavi sessions have failed to fulfil their purposes. If we introspect, our achievement seems to be zero, he said.
Holding a full-term session for a month should involve a complete discussion of the problems in this area. The MLAs are not responding appropriately to the problems of the people and by that, they are wasting a 10 days session. The demand of the people of this region is that a full-term session should be held. Priority should be given to the development of Karnataka and not just to protests. It is unfortunate that even after decades, not a single session has been successful’, he stated in a release.
If legislative houses are built and suitable accommodation is provided for the staff, long-term sessions can be possible in Belagavi. The MLAs should think in this regard shedding their party affiliations, Kore said.
