Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brazil on Monday to attend the 19th G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, marking the second leg of his three-nation visit. He reached Brazil after a successful visit to Nigeria, where he held talks with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and engaged with the Indian community.
Modi’s arrival was announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on social media, alongside pictures of his reception at the airport. In a post on X, the Prime Minister expressed his excitement, stating, “Landed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take part in the G20 Summit. I look forward to the summit deliberations and fruitful talks with various world leaders.”
During the summit, Modi will participate as a member of the G20 Troika, along with Brazil and South Africa. Other world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden, will also be attending the summit, scheduled for November 18-19.
Following the summit, Modi will visit Guyana from November 19 to 21, marking the first visit by an Indian prime minister to the country in over five decades. His trip to Brazil is expected to focus on enhancing bilateral ties and discussing global issues, including sustainability, in line with the G20’s overarching theme of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”
