The Central government has instructed the field offices under the Chief Labour Commissioner’s office to speed up the resolution of industrial dispute cases. This move aims to enhance the business environment in the country and stimulate economic growth.
A review meeting chaired by Sumita Dawra, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour & Employment, took place in hybrid mode. The meeting assessed the performance of the field offices under the Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner. Key focus areas included reviewing the status of pending industrial disputes, claim cases, and inspection reports on the Shram Suvidha Portal (SSP).
Dawra emphasized the need for quick resolution of industrial disputes and addressed the reasons behind the delays. She directed field offices to prioritize long-pending claim cases and improve planning and coordination to tackle the backlog.
A weekly progress review will now be conducted to monitor the performance of the field offices. Dawra encouraged officials to work together in a team-oriented approach to ensure worker welfare.
The Secretary stressed that reducing industrial disputes would contribute to a healthier business climate, making India an attractive investment destination. This, in turn, would generate more growth and employment opportunities, supporting the vision of a developed India by 2047. During the meeting, field offices that efficiently resolved cases and kept a low backlog were praised, while those with delays were asked to take corrective actions.
