In the wake of arrests related to a cash-for-jobs scam, the Goa Congress has called for Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to clarify whether job vacancies will be filled through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) or individual departments.
At a press conference on Saturday, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Amit Patkar announced that the party would petition Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai on Monday to address the ongoing scam. The Goa police have arrested at least six individuals accused of deceiving people by promising them government jobs, a case that came to light through multiple police investigations.
Patkar emphasized the need for the state government to make its hiring process transparent, demanding that vacancies be filled through the SSC to prevent such scams in the future. He also called for the government to issue a white paper detailing the availability of jobs and to establish a high-level commission to investigate the issue thoroughly.
The Congress leader further accused the state government of letting job vacancies remain unfilled to later hire individuals on a contractual basis, suggesting that these scams indicate the collapse of the BJP-led government in Goa.
