Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced major reforms in the entrance examination process across the country, starting in January. He urged state governments to support the initiative to ensure error-free exams.

Pradhan shared that the Radhakrishnan committee had submitted its report with recommendations for improvements in the National Testing Agency (NTA). He emphasized that cooperation from state governments would be crucial to successfully implement these reforms. The minister addressed the need for seamless and transparent entrance exams, stating that both the central and state governments must work together to ensure a zero-error system, instilling confidence in students.

The committee, headed by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan, was set up after concerns over irregularities in exams like NEET and UGC-NET. These issues, including exam leaks and integrity concerns, are under investigation by the CBI. The committee aims to strengthen NTA’s operations and enhance security measures to safeguard the exam process. The report proposes improvements, including a foolproof exam center selection, better paper-setting protocols, and gradual shifts towards online and hybrid models for exams like NEET. It also suggests reducing student stress with multi-stage exams and streamlining CUET subjects to focus on core skills and general aptitude.

Pradhan urged that the reforms be implemented to ensure fair and smooth conduct of exams, ultimately benefiting students and enhancing the credibility of the education system.
