Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a tribute marking a month since the passing of Ratan Tata, on Saturday he emphasized the late industrialist’s profound impact on India. Modi recalled Tata’s deep sense of patriotism, especially evident during national crises, such as the 26/11 terror attacks. Tata’s courageous decision to reopen the iconic Taj Hotel in Mumbai after the attacks symbolized India’s resilience and refusal to bow down to terrorism, serving as a rallying cry for unity.

PM Modi shared personal memories of working with Tata in Gujarat, where Tata’s investments in key projects had a lasting influence. He specifically mentioned the inauguration of an aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara, a project Tata had initiated, as a testament to his vision for India’s industrial growth.

Beyond his business acumen, Modi praised Tata’s compassion, both for people and animals, highlighting his philanthropic efforts. Tata’s support for the Swachh Bharat Mission, which he believed was essential for India’s progress, was also remembered, with Modi recalling Tata’s participation in the mission’s 10th anniversary celebrations.

Modi described Tata as a source of inspiration for the youth, showing that success could coexist with humility and compassion. He also recognized Tata’s leadership in transforming the Tata Group, embodying values of integrity, excellence, and service. Tata’s legacy, Modi concluded, will continue to inspire generations, reminding them that true progress involves the well-being and happiness of all.
